Air Fryer Nashville Hot Chicken
A quick and easy recipe for Nashville hot chicken made in the Air Fryer, featuring a homemade hot sauce and served with pickles and bread.
Ingredients
For the Chicken
- 4 pieces chicken breasts Boneless and skinless
- 1 cup buttermilk For marinating
- 1 cup all-purpose flour For coating
For the Hot Sauce
- 1 cup hot sauce Use your favorite brand
- 1 tbsp brown sugar To add sweetness
- 1 tbsp cayenne pepper Adjust to taste
For Serving
- 4 slices thick bread Toast if desired
- 1 cup pickles For topping
Instructions
Preparation
- Marinate the chicken breasts in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix the flour with salt and pepper.
Cooking
- Once marinated, coat the chicken in the flour mixture.
- Preheat the Air Fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the chicken in the Air Fryer for 25 minutes, flipping halfway through.
Making the Sauce
- While the chicken is cooking, combine hot sauce, brown sugar, and cayenne pepper in a bowl.
- Brush the hot sauce mixture over the cooked chicken.
Serving
- Serve the chicken on thick slices of bread and top with pickles.
Notes
For extra heat, increase the amount of cayenne pepper in the sauce. Store leftovers in an airtight container.
