Preparation

  • In a saucepan, combine the sugar, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, and salt.
  • Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
  • Add the sliced jalapeños to the saucepan and bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat and simmer for about 5 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and allow to cool before transferring the jalapeños and syrup into jars.
  • Let sit for at least 24 hours before using to allow flavors to meld.

Notes

Store Cowboy Candy in an airtight jar in the refrigerator for several weeks. Use a clean utensil each time to avoid contamination. For a unique twist, experiment with adding spices like paprika or cumin.
