  • 6 pieces Jalapeno peppers Slice into rings
  • 1 cup White vinegar Can replace with other types of vinegar for variation
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar Adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 cloves Garlic cloves Crushed for more flavor
  • 1 teaspoon Oregano Dried or fresh

Preparation

  • Slice the jalapenos into rings.
  • In a saucepan, combine vinegar, water, sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil, stirring until the sugar and salt are dissolved.
  • Add the sliced jalapenos, garlic cloves, and oregano.
  • Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  • Pack the jalapeno mixture into mason jars and pour the brine over them, ensuring the peppers are fully submerged.
  • Seal the jars and let them sit at room temperature for an hour, then refrigerate.
  • Wait at least 24 hours before using for the best flavor.

Notes

Store pickled jalapenos in the refrigerator. They will stay good for up to a month. Ensure the peppers are fully submerged in the brine to keep them fresh. Wear gloves when slicing jalapenos to protect your hands from the heat. You can also add sliced carrots or onions for a colorful twist.
