  • 1 cup glutinous rice Essential for the sticky texture.
  • 1.5 cups coconut milk Use full-fat for richness.
  • 0.25 cups sugar Enhances the overall sweetness.
  • 0.25 tsp salt Balances sweetness.
  • 2 pieces ripe mangoes Fresh and juicy for topping.
  • sesame seeds or mung beans Optional garnish for texture.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  • Soak the rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.

Cooking

  • Drain the soaked rice and steam it for 25-30 minutes in a lined steamer until tender.
  • In a saucepan, combine coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Heat gently until the sugar dissolves.
  • Transfer the steamed rice to a bowl, add 1 cup of warm coconut milk mixture, and let it combine for 15 minutes.

Serving

  • Serve a portion of sticky rice on a plate, top with sliced mango, and drizzle with remaining coconut milk.
  • Garnish with sesame seeds or mung beans if desired.

Notes

For additional flavors, try adding different fruits like bananas or pineapple. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for 2-3 days.
