  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  • Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl; gradually mix into the wet ingredients.
  • Stir in the chocolate chips.
  • Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets.
  • Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until edges are lightly browned.
  • Allow to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

Serve these cookies warm with a glass of cold milk or with a scoop of ice cream for an extra special treat. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for about a week or freeze for up to three months. For best results, don't overmix the dough and consider chilling it for at least 30 minutes before baking for thicker cookies.
