  • 1.5 pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup shredded provolone cheese For topping and flavor
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 0.5 cup breadcrumbs
  • 0.25 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation and Cooking

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a skillet, sauté the diced bell pepper, onion, and minced garlic until they are soft.
  • In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, sautéed vegetables, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
  • Form the mixture into a loaf shape and place it in a baking dish.
  • Bake for about 1 hour, or until cooked through.
  • During the last 10 minutes of baking, top the meatloaf with shredded provolone cheese and let it melt.
  • Allow to cool slightly before slicing and serve with desired sides.

Notes

To store leftover meatloaf, let it cool completely and wrap it in plastic wrap or place it in an airtight container. It can last in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days and frozen for up to 3 months. Reheat by thawing overnight and warming in the oven.
