Preparation

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, drain, and set aside.
  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until golden brown, being careful not to burn it.
  • Add the shrimp to the skillet, season with salt and red pepper flakes. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until the shrimp turn pink and opaque.
  • Toss the cooked spaghetti with the shrimp and garlic in the skillet. Add reserved pasta water, lemon zest, and lemon juice. Mix well to coat the pasta.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese if desired. Serve immediately.
